Distance:​

 

Entry to Tsavo East National Park is via Mtito Andei Gates, 233 km South of Nairobi and 250 km North of Mombasa on the main Nairobi - Mombasa Road. From Malindi, take the western road (C103) and enter in the park via Sala gate. Tsavo West National Park is 240 km from Nairobi and 250 km from Mombasa (Mtito Andei Gate). The main access routes are through Chyulu Gate from Amboseli and Mtito Andei Gate from Nairobi. Visitors from Mombasa also use Tsavo Gate near Manyani or via Taveta - Voi road through Maktau, Ziwani and Jipe Gates.

The prolific bird life features 500 recorded species.

 

Wildlife:​

 

Tsavo West National Park has a variety of wildlife, such as eastern black rhinoceros, Cape buffalo, African bush elephant, African leopard and Masai lion. There are also other smaller animals that can be spotted in the park, such as the bushbaby, hippopotamus, hartebeest, lesser kudu and Masai giraffe. Tsavo East National Park is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust – red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo,crocodile, waterbucks, Lesser Kudu, Gerenuk and Hirola.

When to go:

All year round. The park is open daily from 6:00 am  to 7:00 pm including on public holidays. No entry is allowed on foot and visitors will not be allowed entry after 6:15 pm. Walking or hiking is only allowed in designated areas, or in the company of a KWS Ranger.
